Our company lies in the area known as Hitachi-Oota city, Ibaraki Prefecture, where Tokugawa Mitsuguni, a man known from Mito Koumon, used as a hiding place, and compiled the Dai Nihonshi. Our brewery is at a low altitude where the water from the Sato river, which is located at the south of the city, flows in. This area is covered with paddy fields, making it affluent with water and rice.
Our motto is to brew sake with our heart and soul, by figuring out how to keep the local sake characteristics that has been with us since the establishment back in 1876. Even after many years, we keep this alive among us, keep this thought saved through generations, and aim for brewing sake with the hope of communicating our hopes and dreams.
Our representative sake is called "Matsuzakari", a label that has been named by Matsuo Temple, known for the God of sake reigning the temple. This sake was also named in hope of prosperity of the pine trees in the area, and also that our family business will run for as long as it can. Other labels that resembles the local areas are called "Koumon Bayashi", "Akudai-kan", "Suke-san, Kaku-san", "Ryujin Kyo", "Satake's Go". We also sell sake that is made from sake-kasu, rice, or potatoes (called Shochu), that are called "Yokappe", "Tsuki-no-Namida". Additionally, we sell "Nishiyama-no-Sato", a plum wine that uses plums hand-picked by the locals, or made by ourselves, and have been carefully distilled in brown sugar Japanese sake.
Our brewery has been known for our high quality and our high brewing technology, and at the National New Sake Research Institute, an honorary ceremony, we have been awarded with a gold prize on 1998, 1999, 2000, 2003, 2005, 2008, 2009 and 2011. We were nominated on 2004, 2005 and 2007. This marks our 12th consecutive years of being awarded since 1998. We aim to further our improvements with sake brewing, and we all hope for all of your support, and your interest in our brewery.
