The Okitama Basin desires the Azuma mountain range, and the clear atmosphere, the harsh winter cold, and the pure and abundant water make the location incredibly suitable for sake brewing. The plentiful soil also makes rice cultivation prosperous, leading to a superior quality in the particular genre of rice used for brewing sake, and the area has been long regarded as a notable and prosperous spot for rice and sake production.
This company, and the the sake brewing department of Mr. Riuemon Sakataya, was founded by the sixth generation descendant of a domestic merchant in the Yonezawa clan of the Miyauchi area during the Edo period, who was earning special privileges from his feudal lord. Ever since, we have sustained research on new techniques of sake brewing while protecting our traditions.
Our brand product, "Azuma no Fumoto," is a refined sake earnestly wrought by polishing to a pure white very carefully selected sake rice. We seek to fulfill the highest quality principles of sake brewing so that the hearts of every single person who drinks our "Azuma no Fumoto" can be truly satisfied.
