■ History of Tenryo Sake Brewery
In the area of Kouzukeda, the family that brought the brewery to life started its journey. The man who once was a servant in the Gamo family started to create a base in the Kinko area, and since the beginning of Edo era, he started to carry the name Sahei Hinoya. He traveled from Koushu Hino to various areas of Japan as a merchant. Around 1680, he opened up a store in Hida. As he settled there, he fell in love with the people, beautiful nature, and the culture of the area. Since then, around mid Edo era, he started to brew Japanese sake, while keeping his business of selling merchandise. In the Meiji era, the sake brewing business boomed, leading to its independence as "Tenryo Sake Brewery Cooperation" in 1956. Now running on the 8th generation, the love towards the nature and the people of Hida that Sahei Hinoya once had is kept alive. By using the sake rice that is harvested in the great nature of Hida, and using the ground waters (with low mineral content), Tenryo Sake Brewery aims for further growth, and to be recognized as the sake of Hida in the future.
